Scan2Cook turns links to social media videos, posts and websites into completely rewritten, original recipes โ plus a meal planner and fridge scan. Here's a transparent look at what data is processed and what applies when you use the app.
Scan2Cook is available to users worldwide, and this Privacy Policy applies to your use of the app regardless of where you are located. Where a specific regional law grants you additional or different rights (for example the GDPR in the EU/EEA/UK, the CCPA/CPRA in California, or other national data protection laws), those additional rights apply to you on top of the general principles described here.
The party responsible for data processing under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Scan2Cook

a) Recipe import via link
When you paste a link to a social media video, post or website, our server retrieves the publicly available content so an AI can generate a completely new, original recipe from it. The source content itself is not permanently stored โ it is only used for this one-time processing step.
b) Fridge Scan
Fridge Scan sends a camera image to our own AI server so it can recognize which ingredients are present. The image is used solely for this analysis and is then immediately and permanently deleted.
c) AI chat / meal planner assistant
Messages you send to AI features are processed to generate a response but are not permanently stored. It is technically not possible for anyone to access another user's chats.
d) Recipes & meal planner data
Saved recipes, favorites, and meal plans are stored locally on your device by default. If you use Scan2Cook Pro, you can optionally sync this data through your personal Apple iCloud account โ Apple is responsible for storage within your iCloud, and we do not have access to that iCloud data.
e) Subscription payment
Scan2Cook Pro is billed as a subscription through Apple's In-App Purchase. Payment details (such as payment method) are processed entirely by Apple โ we never receive card or payment data, only confirmation that an active subscription exists.
Because Scan2Cook works without registration, we do not collect classic account data such as name, email address, or password. No profile is built up across sessions.
Wherever you are in the world, we want you to be in control of your data. If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection to processing (Art. 21). If you are in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you comparable rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out. Other countries may grant similar rights under their own data protection laws. Since we do not maintain user accounts, many of these rights primarily concern data stored locally on your device, which you can manage and delete directly in the app.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority responsible for your country or region, where one exists.
Transfers between the app and our AI server are encrypted. Fridge Scan images are not stored after analysis โ they are deleted immediately to keep the risk to your data as low as possible.
Scan2Cook has an App Store age rating of 4+. Since no accounts are created and no personal registration data is collected, there is no targeted data collection from children. Parents and guardians should still supervise use of external links and AI features in an age-appropriate way.
We update this Privacy Policy whenever the app or applicable law changes. The current version is always available on this page.
These Terms of Use apply to your use of the iOS app "Scan2Cook", wherever in the world you use it. By using the app, you agree to these terms.
Scan2Cook offers you:
From a link to a social media video, post, or website, Scan2Cook generates a completely rewritten, original recipe. This is not a copy of the source content, but an independently written work created by our AI based on the recognized ingredients and preparation steps.
When you paste a link to a video, post, or website into Scan2Cook, the following applies:
Scan2Cook itself does not store or publicly publish the linked original content โ it only creates a new, independent recipe from it. Sharing or exchanging content between users is not a feature of the app.
Recipes, meal plans, and Fridge Scan results are created automatically using artificial intelligence. Despite careful engineering, errors can occur โ for example in quantities, ingredients, or allergy-related information. Please always check ingredients and preparation instructions yourself, especially regarding allergies, intolerances, or health conditions, before preparing a recipe.
You can delete your saved recipes, favorites, and meal planner entries directly in the app at any time (e.g. via the swipe-to-delete option in "My Recipes"). Since no central user accounts are maintained, you have full control over your saved content on your device or in your iCloud.
If you believe that content generated through Scan2Cook infringes the rights of a third party or violates applicable law, or if you'd like to file a complaint, you can contact us at any time:
Scan2Cook has an App Store age rating of 4+. If used by younger children, we recommend supervision by a parent or guardian, particularly regarding external links and AI features.
We work to keep Scan2Cook reliable, but we cannot guarantee constant availability of the app or the complete accuracy of AI-generated content. We are only liable for damages caused by slight negligence where an essential contractual obligation has been breached.
We may update these Terms of Use, for example when new features are added or the legal situation changes. The current version is always available on this page.
Scan2Cook is offered to users worldwide. These Terms are intended to apply internationally, and nothing in them limits any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the law of the country in which you live. Where a dispute is not covered by such mandatory local rights, it will be resolved under the law of the country in which the app provider is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
